Student Success Stories: Nicholas & Heather, BBA Management, Arts and Entertainment

So, I had no idea that the Arts
Entertainment Management major was even offered. When I sat down with my guidance
counselor in high school, we found Pace University and I thought ‘this is perfect,
the perfect opportunity’. We offer classes such as World’s Theater, and then Film
Production, where you can actually take both within the Arts and Entertainment
Management Major and kind of find your niche in the entertainment industry. The Arts and Entertainer Management program is a business degree where we combine
practical business skills with creative. So, the different classes we have, that
range from technology in the arts, to managing creativity, to stakeholder
management, and managing entertainment projects, gives you a feel for every
department within a company. I think this is the best time to be at this
school, for all the changes that are going on in the industry. Especially, the
way technology is changing the way the internet is changing the landscape of
music and television, this is the best time to be here because the executives
that are coming in to talk to us are actively working on these issues. When we
get into the workforce we’re going to be the ones that they look at to be like,
‘how do we fix these issues?’ I’m involved at the Industry Network for Arts and
Entertainment Management. So, the IN is a organization that we have here, where we
host a lot of different networking opportunities, we have a lot of guest
lecturers come in from different companies, and then also we have a lot of
different internship opportunities that come our way for Pace students
individually, which is great. One-Day Immersion is a television and
media conference that was hosted at Pace University. I got to be team leader on
that project. Executives from Hulu, and Netflix, and NBC, and CBS, and they’re
giving talks, and forums, and one-on-one meeting sessions with students, and that’s
a valuable experience that you can get anywhere else. The AEM program made me
realize there’s way more to me than I thought. I was put into leadership
positions without much notice and that kind of challenge really it made me step
my game up, and it made me realize that I can do a lot more than I thought I could.
There’s just so many opportunities here within the University and as long as you
have, you know, the passion, and the drive, and the love for what you do,
Pace will open new doors for you and help bring your, your passion to life.
