The Best Samples From Kanye West’s ‘Sunday Service’ | Genius News

[HOST] Kanye West’s “Sunday Service”
is the performance arm of Yeezy’s recent turn to gospel music. [HOST] Beginning in January 2019 as an invite
only gathering at his Calabasas, California home, ‘Sunday Service’ has moved to everywhere
from the Adidas headquarters, to the hills of Coachella to most recently at an AME Church
in Queens, New York. [HOST] While Kanye is present at every ‘Sunday
Service,’ the primary voices heard are The Samples choir led by Jason White. Kanye: It’s a idea that we had to open up
our hearts and make music that we felt was as pure and as positive as possible. [HOST] Kanye first mentioned the name “Sunday
Service” on 2012’s “New God Flow.” [HOST] The Samples in coordination with with
Ye, lead audiences in holy renditions of Mr. West’s hits like ‘Through The Wire,’
which becomes ‘Through The Fire.’ [HOST] As well as “Ultralight Beam” [HOST] But it’s not just Kanye cuts, other
contemporary hits get similar treatment. They covered Travis Scott & Drake’s “SICKO
MODE…” [HOST] Legendary rock band Nirvana’s “Smells
Like Teen Spirit” and “Come As You Are.” [HOST] No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak,” became
“Lord Speaks” which drew heartfelt praise from the band’s front woman Gwen Stefani. She said quote. [HOST]I’m in shock hearing this song turned
into a worship song at Kanye’s Sunday Service – I literally started crying [HOST] Mariah Carey had similar words for
Ye after hearing her 1997 cut, “My All,” get the Sunday Service spin. She wrote quote. [HOST] This choir is killing this arrangement
and song! I neeeed to speak to whoever put the arrangement
together and rewrote the lyrics.. Beautiful. Thank you [HOST] Singer Sia even joined in while at
a service on Kanye’s holy rendition of ‘Elastic Heart.’ [HOST] But the reception isn’t all love. After The Clark Sisters 1980 gospel cut, “Ha-Ya”
was redone at Kanye’s Easter Sunday Coachella appearance, they posted their thanks but
made sure to include that, quote. [HOST] We own the rights to this music. [HOST] Kanye also interpolated Tracy Chapman,
who is notoriously protective of her music, by turning her 1988 cut, “Fast Car” into
“Great God.” [HOST] Now, gospel covers of popular songs
are not anything new and have been happening in churches for decades. One example, Nick Jonas’ gospel version
of his song “Jealous” has more than 15 million views on YouTube. [HOST] Kanye’s said to be focusing on gospel
music for the rest of his career so this is probably is not the last time we’ll see
him cover a secular song, with a religious twist. [HOST] I’m Jacques Morel with Genius News,
bringing you the meaning and the knowledge behind the music. Peace!

  1. I don’t think Jesus would do an invite only service. So if Kanye is serious he’d invite everyone to worship. Just like other churches.

  2. I Think it's just a case of megalomania. These entertainers are so full of themselves. Remember when he called himself a god. I think he is just looking for people to worship him. Crazy man.

  3. Right now, God is exposing the people who were looking at Kanye West as idolatry from the people who looked at him just for being a person with flaws and being misunderstood like every other Christian.

  4. I hope Kanye really repents ..This is blasphemy …God isn't a game to make a Sunday service without having true repentense …a person that is born again in Christ shows it by fruits of actions… Antichrist is near

  5. Twisted fake Christianity.., kanye worships corrupt criminal lying cheating trump. And Kayne knows that he’ll get a tax break starting a church.., I don’t want nothing kayne or trump!

  6. My pastor said there’s always way to turn secular music into your only gospels music & this is what he meant.. Wow mind blowing!! Jesus loves you Hollywood, just come to him!!

  7. Go Kanye! We're going to watch God transform you right before our eyes in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Jesus Christ is bigger than all of us. Amen.

  8. 2 Timothy 4:2-4 NIV
[2] Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. [3] For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. [4] They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.

  9. What is this dude doing man what no more creativity now is stealing melodies to sing gospel What is that man what ahhh bruh WTF man what happened porra Damn

  10. Talk about spiritual seduction…Actually West is highly confused because none of this is really 'of God' although it makes 'mention of God'.

  12. WOW!!! This could be huge. Turning pop culture against the radical left is the first step. The radical left have not only destroyed the black community, but who have more importantly destroyed the family structure of all races and classes little by little since the 60s. To think that responsibility and faith are the new radical message can only happen with a global awakening against the absolute rubbish pop culture we are seeing right now.

  13. "Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father except thru him"

We must believe in our hearts what Jesus has done for us on the cross dying for our sins, we must repent of our sins then turn away from evil & be born again. Read your Bible's to get closer to the Lord God almighty draw close to him in these last days. You will find him when you call on him.

  14. ApologetiX “That Christian Parody Band” has been doing Christian parodies for the past 25 years. They use songs from 50’s all the way up to today and change the lyrics to all Christian lyrics. The music sounds identical. Only the lyrics have been changed. Check them out at . They also have a Facebook page @apologetix.

  15. This is not God's religion, sorry kanye. This looks like some concorted twisted madness from satan, makes me feel depressed listening to it.

You help and service people when you do God's work, this music has been the cause of depression, suicide and madness for many people.

  16. wait what these artist will sue if any artist so what copies a single song of theirs but it is okay if god fairing floks do it get the fuck out of here

  17. Gospel is a niche music. K is effectively retiring from the mainstream. Church music is obviously important in America, not so much in Europe, and the whole Revivalist Tent Show is completely alien outside the US, I guess. The music itself has a long history but its all cliche now and K can either revitalise it or go back to creative Hip-Hop.

  19. Buddha was not a Buddhist.
    Jesus was not a Christian.
    Muhammad was not a Muslim.
They were teachers who taught LOVE.
    Love was their religion.

    Religion separates spirituality units.. 🙂
